Up until the 1950’s the Locomotive was one of Exeter’s last cider only pubs. It still specialised heavily in cider in the 1970’s when I drank there under the industrial glare of the florescent tubes that illuminated the lino floored bar. At the time the cider was something like 8 pence for a half, and 15p for a pint.
The top floor of the building was home to Exeter’s first photographic studio, producing Daguerreotypes from 1842.
